Cape Canaveral

Cape Canaveral is the HQ of NASA.  Cape Canaveral is in Florida USA. NASA launch rockets in Cape Canaveral. In Cape Canaveral, there is a space visitor centre where you can go on lots of school trips and there are lots of offices. Cape Canaveral is a good rocket launch site because it is near the sea, it launches East and it is also near the equator.  Additionally, not many people live there so they wouldn’t get harmed if the rocket launch failed.  By Aamilah and Arslaan

Rockets

Rockets, grand machinery – they never tell you about rockets in detail but I will! Well let me start with one of the world records; the Atlas V first topping of at a huge 37,000 miles per hour and maxing out at a whopping 47,000 miles per hour! Rockets are made out of some kind of strong material to withstand exiting the atmosphere and re-entering the atmosphere. Well those two common materials are aluminium and titanium. Oh and aluminium can withstand up to 660.4 Celsius! That’s a lot of heat right?  So that’s a good material for rockets. That’s why if I was to choose which material to make a rocket out of I would choose aluminium. Speaking about good rocket materials imagine how long it would take to make a SINGLE SIMPLE rocket! Even I was shocked when I found out this; it would take up to 18 months (1 Year and 6 Months)  or maybe even more to make a simple rocket for example like the falcon 9 (from SpaceX). Although, a complex rocket like the space shuttle took 5 years to build! By Sean.

Fun Facts About NASA

Do you want to know fun facts about NASA? I just found out NASA was unexpectedly sued by Rhawn Joseph for failing to identify extra-terrestrial life on Mars.  Joseph thought a Mars rock was actually an alien! NASA stands for National Astronaut Space Administration. By Faizaan.

Space Equipment

One thing you need to go to space with is space suits made from metal, steel and other hand-made material. A spacewalk can last over 8 hours. They are safe because they have an air- hole built inside the helmet. The equipment that we use to make stuff other than space suits. It is material to make rockets such as iron. We use iron to make stuff even harder than  the equipment we use to make space suits. By Arees.

Jobs At NASA

There is more than one job at NASA but as a kid you can’t go to space. You must be 16 or over to be in NASA. You can be a space builder, scientist, work on the control panel and so much more! NASA is where Tim Peake went to learn to be a space agent to go to space. By Shasmeen.
